目前石膏相组成分析方法常用为烘干失重法，根据烘干前后的质量差，来计算石膏的无水、半水、二水值，来判断石膏的品位。但这种方法测试过程极长，且全程需要人工反复称重和计算，极易产生人为误差。石膏相组成分析仪采用国标烘干法原理为基础，通过自带高精度称量装置及快速均匀的烘干装置，实现石膏相组成的全自动快速分析。
